Bible Verse: Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. Revelation 3:20
Scripture Reading: Revelation 3:14-22
Just think about this scripture: “we will share a meal together as friends.” This is the way God loves to spend time with us, to get to know us as one would a close friend.
One day I thought to myself, “How funny that this scripture is found in Revelation.” To me…this was…a revelation. We need to understand how much He desires to be included in our lives, our decision-making, and our dreams. God isn’t like a kid selling cookies at your door, or a pushy salesperson who will stand there ringing the doorbell twenty-three times until you finally answer. Sadly for us, He will knock. If we don’t answer, He will patiently wait until we’re ready to answer another day.
I’m sure He would love to keep pounding on the door, till the hinges come loose, hoping to grab our attention, but that isn’t the way God works. Accepting God into your heart and making sure you accept His invitation can only lead to you developing a close friendship and bond with the Lord.
Next time you feel a knocking on your heart, recognize that God is trying to get your attention. Open the door and invite Him in.
