Jesus Is Here!

Theme of the Week: How The Impossible Happened

Bible Verse: “Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.” John 1:16, NIV

Scripture Reading: John 1:1-18

This Christmas, we are celebrating something impossible but true: God becoming a man to dwell among us. He did not come to be with us because we’re so cool to be with. And he did not come because he had to. He came because he loves us with a love that we might never fully understand.

What kind of love makes God, the Creator of the universe, leave a place of glory to share our humanity? To live humbly, suffer, and die on a wooden cross, like a criminal, even though he did nothing to deserve it? That kind of love is impossible… to the human mind. Are we worth that much? To him, yes!

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14, NIV)

Those who witnessed Jesus’ birth, life and ministry, have seen things that we might have a hard time believing, but everything they saw was true and glorious. Thanks to the writers of the Gospels, we can interact with God’s Word and let his Spirit transform our hearts as only he can.

Today, as you reflect on the meaning of this holiday and joyfully welcome Jesus into your home, something good could happen: you may be given the new start that you’ve always wanted.

Whatever your situation, may you be blessed by the God who knew you from the foundation of the world and did everything in his power to give you the life-changing opportunities that his Son’s birth has made possible.
